Event Overview: November's Direct Connect with Partners in India

ReFrame Ministries recently hosted a live conversation with AK Lama, who leads ReFrame’s partner media ministry in India.

Under AK's leadership, we share the gospel with Hindi speakers using audio and video programs as well as devotional booklets. Most of the people we reach with the gospel are using the internet, although they still distribute flash drives or CDs to rural parts of the country.

“The large population has access to smartphones," said AK, "so they listen to the ministry messages when they're relaxing on the train, bus, or at home.”

AK was quick to add, “but the ministry ultimately focuses on how to connect with people personally.”

To that end, ReFrame’s partners in India host events to help train community members in different areas.

“They may have interests in health, technical skills, or skill development, and we bring those programs to connect with them and share the gospel,” said AK. “If they're interested, we go to their nearest town and do a follow-up, which helps us develop relationships with them.”

Oftentimes, these events and trainings turn into discipleship opportunities. One Christian writer, Anu, recently reconnected with the ministry after years of isolation due to depression. She attended a writer’s workshop earlier this year and it was her first opportunity to interact with other Christians in several years.

After the workshop, Anu began crafting a new and compelling script that will be shared on the Hindi ministry's YouTube channel in India. Her creative efforts provided her with the much-needed boost to pursue her passion further.

With gratitude, Anu expressed, "It was a very good workshop for me. I felt like a sleeping writer reawakened through this program."

During the event, viewers also heard from another partner in the ministry, Sadiq*.

"Churches and gospel workers are going through a tough time," he shared, "but we're also seeing more revival than in previous years."

Prayers for India

AK also shared a few ways that supporters could pray for the ministry.

• Many of our team members have felt uneasy as gospel workers, and that feeling has only grown in the past few years. Pray for their safety and protection as they continue this important work across northern India.

• India will have elections this November in five states, and in 2024, there will be a national parliament election, both crucial for India's religious freedom in the next five years. Pray for the government of India, that it would show compassion to those who differ from it in terms of their religious ideas

• Praise God for the growth we've seen in local churches and house churches despite challenges. Pray that more gospel workers will come forward to help disciple new believers in these remote areas of India
