Chinese Wedding Festival

“One man and one woman, one husband and one wife, one family and one life, one heart and one mind.” This past Valentine’s Day, more than 2,000 spectators gathered for the 3rd International Marriage and Family Festival in Los Angeles, CA to witness Chinese couples commit to living out these Biblical marriage values. Dozens of local Chinese clergy also attended the event, which focuses on putting God at the head of marriage.
“Sixty couples from the US, China, and Singapore took or renewed their marriage vows as a testimony to commit to and promote a marriage with Biblical values,” reports Pastor Jerry An, Chinese ministry leader for ReFrame Ministries. The BTGMI Chinese team co-hosted the event.
“Our specific role was to provide in-depth coverage of the event through new media platforms,” explains An. “The BTGMI Chinese department was creative in bringing awareness to the event through various media outlets. Not only did we broadcast the event, but also the testimonies of speakers and performers. We used secular and Christian social media both locally and in Taiwan to Tweet quotes and share photos. The information was widely received with very good response.”
As in many parts of the world, marriage and family are two major social issues in China. In an effort to confront these issues and offer Biblical guidance, the BTGMI Chinese ministry includes these resources in their Be Thou My Rhythm mobile app and social media platforms. “Among the eight categories of our Be Thou My Rhythm, there are two that address these important issues: romance and family,” An says.
As the Chinese team covers transformative events and shares Gospel focused messages, please pray for their editorial team. Pray for wisdom and discernment to post high quality information so that our ministry keeps nurturing believers to enjoy a marriage that honors God.
